Silica
The Issue of Silica found in Stone Benchtops
We understand that this has been a concern for our suppliers of Stone, our stonemasons and our clients due to the effect that Silica can have on our health.
Silica is a naturally occurring substance often found in Stone, rock, sand, gravel and clay. Silica dust is the material released once these materials are cut and broken. This dust can be harmful to our health if inhaled.
Whilst there has been much speculation around this dust known as Silica and it has been proven to cause Silicosis, our suppliers are working to produce an alternative of low to NIL Silica Products.
There are already Stone products available with NIL Silica content.
We have samples in our showroom and they are beautiful!
Low Silica or engineered stone mimics natural stone and is usually a more affordable price with less maintenance required.
